Did you know that there were only a very few REAL Tesla coils ever built? It is true. The so called Tesla coils you see and read about are not Tesla coils at all. They are really Lodge coils that have nothing to do with Tesla at all. How did a little slip of using the words, Primary and secondary by Tesla himself to describe his devices cause so much confusion early on and still exists to this very day? See how modern science bypassed much of the great work of Tesla. So just what was Tesla really doing? What fantastic new type of energy did he discover. Why did the inventor of the ac power system we all use today abandon all further research of AC power and put all his effort into his new discovery? just got it today. though i realized it has no illustrations. they reference to the figures, (as they should) but you have nothing as far as visual aid. kinda pointless. hint... hint ... and to top it all off, without much looking i found this lecture on the web for free and with the illustrations. like the other guy said .. its an addition to a library. other wise save your money and read it online.

"A told b, and b told c, 'I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree'"--which probably seemed like a good idea until the other 23 members of the gang decided to follow suit. Lois Ehlert's chunky block illustrations show the luxuriant green palm standing straight and tall on the first page, but it begins to groan and bend under its alphabetical burden. First the coconuts fall off, then ("Chicka chicka... BOOM! BOOM!") all the letters also end up in a big heap underneath. A very simple board-book version stops there, but this original text goes on to introduce the helping hands of the 26 uppercase "mamas and papas and uncles and aunts." My daughter who is 9 months LOVES this book- we have the paper back and a small board book which doesn't have the whole story (boooo). Anyways I bought Two copies of this!! It is a huge full sized board book with THE WHOLE STORY!!! Awesome! This book is made to last! If your child loves this book I suggest the board book- it's perfect for little ones and its VERY durable!

A word of warning. If you haven't a rhythmic bone in your body, you'd best not be reading "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" anytime soon. This book is arguably the best known alphabet book on the market today. Telling a tale of alphabetic foolhardiness, a troop of lower case letters (all of them, in fact) go bounding up the nearby coconut tree for a variety of reasons. When the tree can no longer support their weight the little letters find themselves splayed out on the ground. Fortunately the big letters come along to comfort the little ones, though it's obvious by the end that not all have learned their lesson.
Verses of the letters' exploits are intermixed with chants like so;
"Chicka chick boom boom!
Will there be enough room?
Here comes H
Up the coconut tree"
The text has a nice rhythmic quality to it. A kind of onomatopoetic elegance. And the illustrations, while not particularly stunning, fulfill their purpose excellently. It's a good read-aloud story for kids learning their alphabet, and would fit into any storytime excellently. A fun feisty book.
