Hard to follow

This was recommended to me to help prepare for a PLS exam. Maybe this is easy to follow if you have a civil engineering background (although if that were the case, I'm not sure why you'd be interested in an "Introduction" to this subject), but the author makes numerous apparent leaps and assumptions and introduces unqualified variables that frankly make this extremely difficult for a non-engineer like me to follow, especially without the aid of an instructor to fill in the gaps or answer any questions. The end of chapter problems are useless, because there aren't any solutions provided, and the CD-Rom that contains them apparently costs around $200. So I'm still searching for a surveyor-friendly book on this subject, but I feel I can say without further qualification that this isn't it, so I'd say steer clear on this one and save yourself a considerable chunk of money.

Could be Better

I have worked with Venture 3 with good success and I had great hopes for Venture 4. I must say I am a little disappointed. The exercises don't work well with my student and I have to correct or amend the information provided. It is early days yet for me with this volume but I expect to look elsewhere for tutoring materials.
